Johnny English Reborn-Opening title sequence

Johnny English Reborn - Main Title Sequence from Fugitive Studios on Vimeo.

It can be considered that the initial indicators of the genre forward that it is going to be an action-spy-comical genre through the use of iconography. Having electronically based maps initiated by red lines with a target as the center point forwards that they spy is going to be on a mission to find someone. Another indicator of the genre is the costuming of the character, wearing a black suit whilst holding a gun initiates enigmas, questioning whether the man is going to film the antagonist also, having a gun at the beginning could suggest that he has a trigger meaning he has clues which could help him intimate his search or the more literal assumption that he find them and kills them.
Typography which is much like squares suggest that it is like a stamp which would be placed on a case file for an investigation declaring the case closed or open. Hinting that the services are a key role in the film and that the secret agents have been awarded the case possibly because the mainstream services could not solve the case.

Dissecting lines create the subdivision of images but the lines within the sequence are either along or upwards seeming very mechanical and surgical. The precision of the lines indicate that the film is an agent which works down to precision and could suggest also, that the appearance of the agent is key and that whilst on the case the representation of agents is key and that English has to be were about how he looks.
Lighting underneath the leading actor ''Rowan Atkinson'' is much like a light off of a car light. Lights, for cars are only turn on in the dark for vision and therefore, indicating that the agent works more through the later hours possibly because of a secret identity that if found out by the enemy it would be deemed upon as fraternization.

It can be noted, that fire is a key iconography aspect within this opening title sequence and is significant as it is the representation of danger in the film. The fire reoccurs throughout the opening title sequence suggesting that a plane flying through the fire, which is juxtaposing as, about to occur also, hints action; obviously this would be a hazard and endanger a lot of lives. The reoccurring map at the side indicates that the finding of the disruption is desired on behalf of Johnny English.

Another indicator of the spy genre is the shooting of the casino chip, which is ironic as, agents are considered wealthy individuals in terms of social status and very intelligent juxtaposed by the symbol of shooting money. The science would expect a controversial opinion of the event and likely enigmas will be set up, questioning why he is shooting a chip and how this forwards to the narrative.

Comical aspects then begin to flow when Johnny English, the agent begins to re-enact Jackie Chan by doing Kung Fu and doing rather disturbingly with a facial expression, which would be taken serious without the reincarnation of Kung Fu in his body. Once again the colours reoccurring are black and orange- black as a sense of secrecy and orange as the fire representing the enemy and the obstacles in which English will have to overcome in order to rein supreme. Guns also reoccur along with police training iconography such as, shooting targets and line up height measurers used in police training schemes which could moreover, suggest that English has no real training in the field and it’s all a joke to him.

Title of names and there movements varies within each shot but still indicates the genre as, when he was practicing to fly kick each letter individually separated using CGI to make them fly toward the screen which could, furthermore, make the audience jump as it’s an unexpected sense of movement. Some, transitions of the names fly in, in one straight line much like a plane an indirect motif that the lifestyle of an agent is desired.
Comedy is recycled again towards the end when English is sitting in the back of a cab in stereotypically a judo position; not seeming interrupted by his job which is more serious then actually led on here. The enigmas in which the audience would be most likely to think would be: why is he sitting there? In this position? Does he not have anything to detect.

A female is dancing in which her shadow is seen indicating that she is naked and that a female is interruption into solving the mission straight away and that he is deterred from his job by the thought of engaging with the female. The sound is rather like a replica of a news report, suggesting that the event is aired on the news where the public can see the traumas English has gone through. The sound juxtaposes the comical elements as, it’s a very serious tone in which Johnny English doesn’t seem to be fazed by.
